Pain Conditions We Treat

Pain Conditions Treated

We treat a wide range of nociceptive and neuropathic pain conditions from common disorders like neck and back pain to more complex and chronic pain problems like reflex sympathetic dystrophy (RSD) and occipital neuralgia. We take a multi-dimensional and individual approach to pain management and focus on properly diagnosing and treating the entire patient, in addition to each patient’s specific pain condition.

Cancer Pain

More than 50 percent of cancer patients suffer from chronic pain as a result of their cancer and cancer treatment. Many do not achieve adequate pain relief and remain undertreated. Analgesic medications are often a first-line treatment for cancer pain. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are also used during all stages of cancer pain treatment to relieve pain symptoms.

Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD)

Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy often results in severe burning pain, pathological changes in bone and skin, excessive sweating, tissue swelling, and extreme sensitivity to touch. Often, injury to the nerves is responsible for RSD symptoms. Because there are no specific tests to diagnose RSD, patients must see a specialized pain physician to diagnose and treat RSD.

Occipital Neuralgia

Occipital neuralgia is a common cause of headache. It involves two sets of nerves in the neck called the occipital nerves. Pain often originates at the base of the neck and can spread to the front, back, and sides of the neck. The pain can be caused by chronic neck tension or an underlying disorder.
